A trip to Asian Civilisation Muesum...20th August 2011

Once again I stepped into the Asian Civilisation Museum. The last time I went was for the Kang Xi exhibition, one of the emperor which ruled China during the Ching dynasty. This time though, the objective is to grasp a view of the terracotta warriors, which were created and buried together with Qing Shi Huang, the first emperor to unify China.

This exhibition is quite small in my opinion, however, one still can spend a few hours there marveling at the wonderful artifacts and the rich cultural history. It's quite amazing as to what the ancient people have created and done with the limited technology and knowledge.

Thanks to my buddies' accompany, I got to physically "move" myself into the museum. At the main hall, there were some display of the ancient hardware, if I remember some were meant for display, while others were used in daily lives.

Moving on, just before we reached our warriors, there were some weird art display. After some exploration and read up, we realised that this was a art creation by a modern artist, not one of the terracotta warriors!

Anyway, after some walk, we finally reach what we came for. at first, some smaller artifacts were lined up. towards the end, the horse carriage was the start of the "larger" exhibits. After which most of the displays are on the terracotta warriors. You need to read the comments there to really know how their army were organised and how they fought a war. Armours and weapons were also displayed, with descriptions on them.

The one thing that I think the museum did well was to add in "game" whereby visitors could download the application from their Iphones and start playing. The game flow was such that one not only had to move through the exhibits, they could also learn from the game. They need to aim the camera lens at specific areas in order to proceed. It was so interactive, with 3D warriors shown fighting a war for one instance. At one stage one could also learn how to write the Qin's language stroke by stroke!

Towards the end, post Qin's dynasty artifacts were displayed (Han dynasty). It marked a nice and smooth ending to our terracotta warriors trip. (We still went to the permanent exhibitions to enrich ourselves :p)

Having to stand for hours, it was time to find a seat and fill up our stomach! Maxwell market was our destination and we ordered the famous porridge with Yu Sheng. It was marvelous, and it was not expansive at all! Maybe it was our lucky day, we were the final customers that day (porridge), though we could only get 2 bowls when there were 3 of us.

从小就很喜欢华语的我，在求学时期一直很想修读高级华文，但事以愿为。

最近新传媒8频道播放的8点党节目“巧言妙语”，就找来了那些华语程度比较差的艺人来参与。从游戏中，他们将学习并而提升他们自己的华语程度。而在这个过程中也发生了许多笑话。我在看这个节目的当儿也不知不觉地参与其中，尤其是那歇后语更是让我动脑筋。

Railway walk along Bukit Timah...9th July 2011

I was sick for the past week, so sick that I can't even stand for long... Luckily everything's fine now. Please take care everyone.

Anyway, again thks to my old buddy who accompany me for this walk. It was a nice trip, from breakfast at Bukit Timah market, to the railway walk to the visit of Beauty World.

It was a nice sunny Sunday morning, and we set sail for the railway after a nice meal. The crowd was there, but luckily not a lot. Thus we could still walk in carefree style. I guess I will just leave the pictures to talk. Try to zoom to it's real size, especially for the plants and flowers so u could see a real close up fine detail of them.

It was a nice experience especially for the young as they could get to see and feel the wild plants, flowers growing by the two sides. It was also a great moment for photographers as they would get to snap whenever they caught something unique/nice/wild. Wonder how it felt when trains traveled through the homes. Some were really just beside the railway.

For those who are going, please remember to wear shoes, if not you will regret as walking on rocks and sloppy terrain can be tough.

After the walk, we went to Beauty World as my buddy needed to get something. I also did bought tasty kuehs for my family and relatives. However, the regret was we did not eat the mutton soup as my body condition was already not very well at that time. Promised would go there again soon!

Everyday when the MRT train goes eastward, I would see this place, now a almost dead town awaiting to be demolished i guess.

Used to patron there in my younger days, then slowly forgetting this place as I grew up. Luckily, I got to know that this market will be closing around a year ago and thus would makan there with my buddies whenever possible. Used to makan the chicken rice, porridge and western food. One had splitted into two, one unknown and one don't know move to where. I did not get to taste the chicken rice yet, however luckily I did managed to regain my memory on the other two.

Just love the tender chicken chop with its "special sauce", salad, healthy thick french fries and not forgetting the unfried bun with high class butter to go with! One set of this is usually enough for a stomach, but with you want more, you could order porridge and kopi to go with. Simply love this old lok cock environment.

Recently, the western stall's blog had updated that they got a location in city area and was waiting for NEA's approval. Although the surrounding would never be the same, I hope the food will.

Gathering 02S16 @ 2/7/2011

Ok, time for another story telling...Nice having a gathering with another gang of I think 7 year old buddies, first at a chinese restaurant, followed by a drinking cum dessert session at Prive (see picture below).

The chinese restaurant which locates near Tiong Bahru market serves nice food which in my opinion is of high standard. Unfortunately do not get to eat much as my ah ma house also got nice food waiting for me before this!

Moving on, we went to Prive which I think is located near Vivo city. Being a 宅男 (home boy) I do not know there's such a place and it has been there for a while already... Just can say that the place is filled with yacht, and the only link there is a bridge.

The cheese cake is nice from what my friend says and I agree. Other than that cannot comment much as I do not get to eat them. Oh ya, my Cafe Latte tastes like cafe latte. The environment would be nice if not for the 3rd hand smoke and mega fan blowing off our tiny source of light on the table.

The 8 of us just sit there chatting, "looking", catching up with each other and talking about life, both present and future. And just before we get off from our seats, we get free chocolate as souvenirs from one of our friend (Vinc) who was at US a while ago.

31/5/2011: KTM railway --> End of journey

It is the first trip there, and it ended today...

A journey that starts with a walk in from the side gate just as the moon is almost fully out. From the front entrance, a sign board shows the directions for the passengers, from money changer to finding the arrival and departure area and how could it be missed... restaurant!

Moving into the main hall, some people are seen queuing for tickets, while others are resting on the aging seats. The high ceiling makes the place grand and the paintings at the top of the white wall add a sense of artistic feel.

Hmm, hungry hungry...time for dinner! Ordered mee rebus and teh tarlik and fully enjoyed the meal with a bunch of buddies. The tables are placed just beside the railway track and the train is coming! Time to move to the departure platform.

Finally, the old and rusty lampposts outside the main building can take a rest. The modern buildings are shining brightly right behind, waiting......

Free feast for the eyes

Some of the plants/flowers that I have taken. The cactus is stunting as the the flower is sooo big. The pictures at the bottom show how it looks like before and during full bloom.

The other two pictures are taken along the pathway towards office. A small coffee shop is located beside and guess it's the guys over there who planted them. Anyone knows the fruit/vegetable of the last picture?

Guess there is no need to go to botanical garden to appreciate nature's wonder, they are all around us. :)

First time went to Redhill market after its renovation (think previously the temp. location is just beside Redhill MRT). Nice food center as it is spacious, not crowded and many many food to choose from!

These are the food that me and my long time buddy ate that day. :)
